Cartoon Network Racing is a racing game for PlayStation 2 (developed by Eutechnyx) and Nintendo DS (developed by Firebrand Games) that was published by The Game Factory in 2006. Released to capitalize on Mario Kart: Double Dash!!'s success three years prior, the PlayStation 2 version of the game features various characters from the early years of Cartoon Network racing together, tag-team style, in a way that would seem very familiar to anyone that had played Double Dash!! beforehand.
Tropes that apply to the game Abandoned Mine: Mine Your Own Business. It's even referred to as \"The Spooky Mine\" in the track select. Achievements in Ignorance: Muriel and I.R. Baboon's Shield abilities work via them being too stupid to realize they're being hit, somehow protecting the kart in the process. Action Dad: Dexter's Dad and Professor Utonium are playable racers here. Action Mom: The roster has Bunny Bravo, Dexter's Mom and in an adoptive sense, Muriel as playable characters. Amusement Park of Doom: A Walk In The Park. Athletic Arena Level: Both Cow and Chicken tracks have the racers go through the school gym at some point, and they have to dodge balls, puddles, and floor cleaners running amok. Big Boo's Haunt: Saturday Fright Fever is a haunted house. Big Red Devil: Both the Red Guy and HIM are unlockable racers here. The Cameo: Billy, Mandy, Grim, the Eds, Mac, Bloo and Ben Tennyson all appear in the Cartoon Network Interactive Vanity Plate. Cel Shading: The game utilizes this to make the characters look more like their animated counterparts. Construction Zone Calamity: Both I Am Weasel tracks primarily take place on a construction site. Death Mountain: Days Of Blunder. The Dividual: The Powerpuff Girls are all considered as one character on the PS2 version, while each of the girls race by themselves on the DS. Easter Egg: Pairing certain charactersnote Johnny and Carl, Cow and Chicken, Dexter and Dee Dee, The Powerpuff Girls and Professor Utonium, Weasel and Baboon, Courage and Muriel together results in unique winning and losing animations depending on which is the driver and which is the co-driver. Rock sculptures of Weasel, Baboon, Johnny, Cow, Chicken, Flem, Dexter and Blossom can all be seen in Days Of Blunder, though some of them are difficult to find due to how they're positioned. Fake Shemp: Flem and Earl speak with recycled voice clips from their show. Flight: Several co-drivers have the ability to cause their kart to fly into the air, allowing it to bypass certain hazards and gain a decent (albeit not as much as the Super Speed abilities) boost of speed. Furry Confusion: The game features the anthropomorphic Cow and Chicken as playable drivers but also features realistic, non-sapient cows and chickens on Farmed and Dangerous, the first track of the game. Go-Karting with Bowser: Amongst the roster of characters are Mandark, Mojo Jojo, Fuzzy Lumpkins, and HIM. Green Hill Zone: The first track of the game, Farmed and Dangerous, is an incredibly colorful yet peaceful farm. Home Stage: Of the 18 tracks for the console version, six of them are themed from the cartoons. The DS version has a few more or different ones. Cow and Chicken: Cow & Chicken's School. I Am Weasel: Construction Site. Johnny Bravo: Johnny's Neighborhood. Dexter's Laboratory: Dexter's Lab. The Powerpuff Girls: Townsville. Courage the Cowardly Dog: Bagge Farmhouse. Idle Animation: Having the kart stay still long enough results in both occupants performing an animation. Jungle Japes: Rumbled In The Jungle. Mascot Racer: The game features various Cartoon Network originals racing against each other. Massive Multiplayer Crossover: Between six of Cartoon Network's original shows. Medieval European Fantasy: A Hard Days Knight!. Mythology Gag: The track select menu is based on CN City. Never My Fault: If the player loses a race with Eustace as the co-driver, he'll blame Courage regardless of who's actually driving.Eustace: I blame the dog. Pinball Zone: Tilt We Meet Again. Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Chicken, Courage, Muriel, and Eustace's Speed powers work through them attempting to run from the other racers. Secret Character: Each show has several characters that can only be unlocked by completing certain tracks in the cartoon eliminator. Shout-Out: Saturday Fright Fever's title is one to Saturday Night Fever. Days Of Blunder is a parody of Days of Thunder. Slippy-Slidey Ice World: No Business Like Snow Business!. Super Speed: Certain co-drivers have the ability to boost the kart's speed temporarily. What the Hell, Player: Idle too long on the driver select and the highlighted character will call you out for taking so long. The Wild West: The Good, The Bad, and The Stupid is a cowboy town, with a saloon, train cars, a post office, and gallows. Unlockable Content: The rewards for winning the tournaments are episodes from the shows represented, with twelve in total for the PS2 version and three for the DS version.
