Haptic Interface for 3D Computer Games

Recently, computer games have been evolving into 3D RPG and simulation types which give players more realism and immersiveness from the existing 2D RPG ones. More recently, increasingly more attention is paid to the computer games which exploits sense of touch to help improve the realism and immersiveness for the user. In the past decade, much work has been pursued on haptic interface among the research community, for the purpose of realizing the sense of touch in virtual reality. In fact, some attempt has been made to incorporate haptic interface technology into entertainment software, and this has produced a standard in PC games. In this paper, we present an overview of ongoing research work on haptic interface for 3D computer games.
